Small oval nuts are made from peanut pods. In the Indian subcontinent, peanuts are a light meal, usually roasted and salted (sometimes with chili powder), often roasted in pods or boiled in salt. Also, by processing with refined sugar and brown sugar, peanuts can be made into brittle desserts and sweet treats. In Indian cuisine, roasted crushed peanuts are used to give the salad a crispy body. For the same reason, it is added whole (without pods) to a stew of leafy vegetables. Southeast Asian dishes such as Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia are usually spicy sauces.
